Hi There,
I was wondering if someone might be able to give me a little advice on Convict details. I'm only new to finding out i have convict ancestors, so i'm wondering how we go about getting details etc? I know for fact that 4 of my Great Great Great Grandparents were convicts, i'm trying to trace my husbands side, which also has convicts (great lot we are! LOL), in trying to do this i'm finding it difficult to trace his GGGGrandfather on his Father side, Thomas Fanning, born circa 1822 in Westmeath. Parents names apparently Dominick and Mary Fanning nee Martin. Although as we all know this could be wrong. I have found a William Fanning, a convict. Born in Westmeath, tried in Dublin, transported to NSW in 1826 onboard the Phoenix III, with a 7 year sentence. It states he had a wife and child. I'm just curious as to how we find out if the wife and child came here, if they did, when this occured? This information could also assist me in my researching of the other convicts we have. I am just really clueless as to how to research convict information, other than the ship they arrived on, their ticket of leave etc on NSW records site.
Thanks
