I am looking for any information on Easter Slone and Dillard Smith, Martin County, KY...

According to the death certificate of Angeline Smith Moore, first wife of Albert Moore, her parents were Easter Slone and Dillard Smith.

I find them in the 1900 census.

According to the 1900 census data, Easter says she was born in 1872. That would mean she was only 9 years old when she married Dillard Smith. In the 1900 census, she reports having had 8 children--7 of whom are living. Angeline Smith had just married Albert Moore in 1900 and was residing with him in Martin County.

Angeline, supposedly Easter's first child, was the first wife of my grandfather Albert Moore (1878-1957). His second wife, Myrtle Mae Smith was my grandmother.

In speaking with a cousin, there's another one of those native american stories that seem to run through our family history but are unproven. The story is that they found her wondering alone near a road there in the Appalachian mountains...and so, it goes from there. I have not found her on the Dawes rolls, but I do see a Dillard Smith in the 1910 census married to another woman with an entirely different set of children.

I do find a marriage record a Dillard Smith and an Easter L. Maynard in Pike County on 5 Aug 1880...but this Easter says she was born in 1864 and this Dillard says he was born in 1855...which isn't quite as far off. And in the 1900 census, Easter's oldest child living at home is Chloe. Easter Maynard's mother appears to be Chloe. Then, I lose Easter entirely in the 1910 census. Could it be that she remarried a Slone and Slone wasn't her maiden name as shown on Angeline's death certificate? I know you can't always trust death certificates...just hoping that this info sparks with someone who can point me in another direction?

Does anyone know anything about this girl/woman? Much appreciated....
