I am looking for any infomation on a Hampe, who was the Marshal in New Braunfels Texas. He was shot to death in January of 1883, by Nathaniel Pitts, while attempting to make an arrest.

One newspaper article states Hampes first name was "August". We have found another Hampe named "Fritz".

Just trying to get more information so that Marshal Hampe name can be placed on the Texas Law Enforcement Memorial in Austin. Thanks.........
