I just got my copy of the Fortore magazine and was thrilled to see that they had my account of my Lanza/Sabatino family included in it. They had asked me some time ago to do this when I first subscribed; I obliged - and they lost it. Ha - funny things can happen. Anyway I submitted it again and almost a year later it finally made it. What a thrill to see photos of my family along with the story in this little town's magazine.
Also as an added bonus, about 3 weeks ago I got a letter from a don Michele Marcantonio (a priest) who had seen my story before it made it to the magazine, and he very kindly sent me a copy of my Lanza family tree, some exerpts about my Lanza Ancestor back in the 1700's from one of his published books -and a little play in Italian about "The Last Lanza." Good grief -this is about a brother of my grandfather's who was murdered back in about 1913 and they have made a play about it. It's all in Italian, and I can't understand much of it -so will have to get it translated.
But mainly of interest is that they sent me a form "Tracing our History" on which they are asking for a Census of people born in Roseto Valfortore and migrating starting from 1882 - and including the descendents to the 4th generation -a type of family tree. There is a sample on the Roseto On Line web site - if anyone is interested in submitting their family. I guess this is quite a project they are undertaking. Could be interesting to see what comes out of it.
Anyway, I wanted to share all of this with you. I've come a long way from when I first started this genealogy thing about 3 years ago, and thanks to Phil Falcone for helping me along the way. It has been so rewarding.
