George Johnson was born 1790’s in New York or Canada Black Rock NY Fort Erie Canada Areas. He married Margaret Tubbs. They resided in New York, also in Mudge Hollow, Know Canning Ontario Canada then moving to Fort Erie Ontario, Canada where they both Died early in Life. It is believed that George Johnson was an Indian and was possibly married at the Mohawk Chapel in Mudge Hollow, Brantford area Where Margaret Tubbs family was residing and two of Margaret’s brother’s were married in the Mohawk Chapel. George and Margaret had a son Richard I don’t know if they had more children. We have been stuck on George Johnson for along time.

Richard Johnson was born May 3rd, 1820 in Black Rock, New York now Buffalo. But moved to Fort Erie, Canada during his childhood. After the death of His parents around 1826 in Fort Erie Ontario Canada. Richard then went to live with his mother’s brother Samuel Tubbs in Paris, Ontario, Canada. Richard married Margery Fox in 1841 in Mudge Hollow Ontario Canada now known as Canning. Richard and Margery had ten children. In 1869 Richard and Margery settled on a farm three miles west of Mayville, Mi. Richard died in 1908 and is buried in the Fremont cemetery. One of their children was Sarah Eleanor Johnson.

SARAH JOHNSON was born July 16 1851 in Blenheim Ontario Canada. She married John Walter Elliott 1870 whom she met on her father’s farm while he was working for a stump pulling Company. Sarah and John were married in Vassar, Michigan. Sarah and John went on to have eight children. She resided and lived out the rest of her days in Mayville Mi. Sarah died June 28 1933 at Mayville Michigan age 81 years and is buried next to her husband sharing the same gravestone in the Fremont Cemetery.

There are many stories passed down through the family from Sarah saying was half native American and wished to have a fair complexion. Also there is information that Sarah’s sister Emily Watson wife of William Watson went to visit her cousin the poet in British Columbia Canada We believe it is Emily Pauline Johnson.
