The SOuth Carolina Archives has a document with Series No. S165015 and Item No. 00077 dated 23 Oct 1788 which is described as the Petition of Ruth COLE and Barbara COLE to the House Asking to Be Appointed Heirs of the Estate of Susannah RAPER, a Free Person of Color. (Charleston, SC)

Persons named are apparently: Ruth COLE; Barbara COLE; Susannah RAPER; Charles LINING; and William RAPER.

I have NOT seen the image or a transcript of this document, but rather only the reference, which I thought to possibly be of interest to RAPER genealogists.

There seems to be a similar petition the following year dated 28 Jan 1789 (Series No. S165015; Item No. 00029). Additional supporting papers were apparently filed on 20 Feb 1789 (Series No. S165015; Item No. 00078).
