Somewhat new to Ancestry.com- Joined in October and have been researching almost daily since. I have become addicted to delving into my family tree and want to take in everything I can. My family is taking a trip in April and will be spending a day in DC. I realized that during this time, I could check out The National Archives. Since I don't get to visit DC often, I really want to take advantage of this opportunity and possibly find some information related to my personal history. Problem is, I have NO idea what to look for. Obviously I need a plan of some kind, otherwise I'll never find anything. Have any of you been? Can you throw some suggestions at me as far as "good genealogical goals," so I can create a list before I go? Are there people there that help you find information (for free) or are you basically on your own? I have tracked some family back to the 1700's.
