I am looking for Laniers and Mixon/Mixson in the Black Belt Region of Alabama. My grandfather was Louis Lanier and his father was Tom Lanier his mother Ellin Mixon-Lanier. Looking back at the census records, Ellen was living with he grandparents Alec/Alic/Alex Mixon b. in AL and Ellen Mixon b. in Alabama living in Dallas Co. in about 1880. Tom/thomas Lanier was living with his parents Burrell Lanier and Charity Lanier in 1880. Tom and Ellin only had two children, Susie and Louis. If you think you may be related to Burrell, there are many apparently Burrell Lanier like to have his slaves named for him, or Alex/Alec Mixon please drop me an email.
