Trying to find family of John Gardiner who died in Rowan County, NC on 3/11/1791. He appeared to be Presbyterian and family history says he was Scotch/Irish. John may have been in Rowan county as early as 1753 and he obtained a land grant in 1762. Ramsey's book Carolina Cradle says Gardiner, Evans, Harrison, and Cusick families were in Maryland before 1720. John relocated to NC with John Dunn and Thomas Evans who were from Maryland. Ramsey also suggests that the Gardiners were in Burlington County, New Jersey before 1694. Any help, including reference books will be greatly appreciated.
