My ancestor John Thackray (Thackwray) died in 1838. The deceased died at Chapel Lane, Horton which is a street I found on a 1906 map of Bradford. His son, James, is listed as informant on this record. He lists himself as "Son, Inmate, Chapel Lane." I am confused by the term "INMATE" as Chapel Lane appears to be a residential street (I have found it on the 1841 census and there is no workhouse/prison on that street). Has anyone else seen this term used in this context. Any suggestions as how I can find out more. Thanks.
