Edward & ? SLATTERY of somewhere in Ireland, had a daughter named Margaret SLATTERY, who was born around 1810 or so.
Margaret SLATTERY married a Thomas RYAN in Ireland. They had at least two children who were born in Ireland:

1. Daniel RYAN, born about 1840 in Ireland

2. Mary RYAN, born about 1845 in Ireland; died 1895 in Bridgeport Connecticut

Sometime thereafter, the RYAN family ended up in Bridgeport Connecticut.

In the late 1860s or the very early 1870s:

Mary RYAN married Martin WALSH (parents were Thomas & Ann WALSH), who was also born in Ireland abt 1844; died in Bridgeport in 1883. They had at least three children:

1. William WALSH, born about 1871 in Bridgeport
2. Edward Martin WALSH, born 1873 in Bridgeport; died 1920 or 1921 from TB.
3. Maggie WALSH, born ? in Bridgeport

There may have been a fourth child, Thomas.

According to the 1880 Bridgeport census:

Margaret RYAN, 70 years old -- homemaker
Daniel RYAN, 40, son -- blacksmith
Mary WALSH, 35, daughter -- saloon keeper
Martin WALSH, 36, son-in-law -- laborer
William WALSH, 9, grandson -- in school
Edward WALSH, 7, grandson -- in school
Maggie Walsh, ?, granddaughter

Edward Martin WALSH married Margaret Gertrude KENNEDY (born in 1875 in Haydenville MA to Patrick KENNEDY & Ellen BURKE) in 1897 in Port Chester NY. Edward WALSH & Margaret KENNEDY were both living in Bridgeport at the time they were married.

Edward Martin WALSH & Margaret KENNEDY had nine children:

1. Marguerite WALSH
2. Maryon WALSH
3. Edward Robert WALSH
4. George WALSH
5. Nora Elizabeth (aka Eleanor) WALSH
6. Helen WALSH
7. Joseph WALSH
8. Evelyn WALSH
9. Gertrude WALSH
