James and Margaret Townsend of Fayette County, Alabama, had three sons and one grandson killed during Civil War. The two remaining sons, William and James, were wounded but survived. They were in Jackson, Tennessee, afterward and appeared in the Arkansas census in 1870. I have fairly complete info on William but James and his entire family seem to have disappeared. James applied for a Civil War Pension from Natural Dam, Arkansas in 1895 and I have been unable to find any data on him or his family afterward. Would appreciate any help if you know anything about this family.
