My grandmother was adopted by Arlet & Fannie Brooks in 1917 (September, I believe). Her name was Kathleen but I don't know if that was her birth name. Sadly, she passed away before I could meet her.

She was born 22 Nov 1913 in Highland County, Ohio, and was in the Highland County Children's Home in Hillsboro, Ohio, before her adoption.

Her birth parents' last name may have been Morgan (her maiden name may have been Williams or something similar). And they had a number of children.

To further complicate the matter, her parents were from Portland, Indiana, and it is unclear where the adoption actually took place.
