James Henry Boggs - daughter Eligeia Boggs Ludlum

Classification: Query
Surnames: Boggs, Ludlum
I descend from James Henry Boggs and Nancy Lewis Boggs through their son Jeremiah "Jerry" Boggs. I have a question about James' and Nancy's daughter, Eligeia "Lige" Boggs Ludlum. I have found very little info. about her, born about 1902-1903 in Kentucky, per census records. I was told she married a Ludlum and found that last name in the obituary of Hugh Boggs, a son of James' and Nancy.

In searching Ancestry.com, I found a New York Passenger List that showed a Ligeia B. Ludlum, age 43, who arrived in NY on 11 May 1950 from Bremerhave, Germany, on the ship General Alexander M. Patch. Her birth location was listed as Greenup Co., Kentucky, which is where my Eligeia came from. Ironically, the name below hers was John B. Peters, 19, also going to Greenup Co., Kentucky. He was born in Sumner, Illinois. They both had the same passport number, 14121, which could be an error on the part of the person filling out the form. Eligeia's sister Missouri had the married name of Peters.

Then I found this same Eligeia B. Ludlum arriving in San Francisco, CA. on 10 Sep 1955 on the ship General A.E. Anderson from Inchon, Korea and Yokohama, Japan. Ligeia B. Ludlum had passport number 46577 and arrived with 1 trunk, 5 handbags, 1 box and 1 pkg.

I wondered if Eligeia B. Ludlum was married to a military man or if any of James Henry Boggs' descendants ever heard of Eligeia traveling during the 1950s. I would think this might stick out in someone's mind when family members talk about others. It seems fairly significant to me for the times, and a bit too coincidental with the ages, the names, etc. matching so closely to this person I am trying to gather more info. on.

The Florida Death Index for 1877-1998 listed the death date of 7 Dec 1979 in Osceola, Florida, of Ligeia B. Ludlum. My family has told me that Ligeia lived in Florida in her later years, so this seems like another strong possibility.

Can anyone shed any light on this through family stories or point me in a direction where I might scope out more info? Thanks -- Cynthia in Dallas
