My grandfather Thomas C Best was born in South Africa abt 1902. His father was James Arthur Stanley Best who according to my grandfathers marriage cert was a pensioned soldier. I have found on rootsweb a birth in 1882, Aliwal North SA for a James Arthur Stanley Best whose father had the same name and mother was Elsie Dorothy but I'm not sure if this is the same family.
