I have an old commercially made scrapbook labeled "NEWSPAPER CUTTINGS", which contains a hand-written history of the DUNLOP and MURRAY families, headed "_History of the Dunlop Family_ by Beatrice Murray Dunlop - Brantford, Ontario, Can., Kingston- the Jackson Press - 1935".
Included are the children and some other descendents of William MURRAY, "the patriarch of Perth" (Scotland) and his wife Elizabeth CARFRAE, "one of the handsomest women in Scotland".Names include Peter ("Dad's father") - July 14, 1806-Nov.14, 1882 and his siblings Margaret, Elizabeth, William Allan, Robert, James Allen, Alexander, John, Stewart and Andrew Dott MURRAY. Peter MURRAY married Anne DUNLOP (1807-1861), the daughter of Peter DUNLOP. They lived "at the corner of Queen and Herkimer Streets" in Hamilton, Ontario, Can. and had 13 or 14 children. James Allan MURRAY came to Peru, ILL (where he and his family lived at "Spring Creek Farm")from Scotland around 1840, according to this account. Alexander MURRAY founded the "house of A. Murray and Co." in Hamilton, Can". Stewart MURRAY moved to Sydney, Australia and Andrew Dott MURRAY was later a merchant in St. Louis, MO. I will be happy to return this scrapbook to a member of this family. The rest of its content consists of various newspaper clippings, only a few of which are directly related to this family.
