Hello. I am at the “brick wall”.I am seeking proof of the parentage of my gg grandfather Hugh Livingston b 1821 in Mercer Co, PA. He married Married Mary Ann Todd in Mercer in 1843. They left via wagon for IA in 1865. They had 8 children.
One was my GG grandfather Clarence Elmer Livingston who was from PA and born 26 MAR 1865. He was only 8 mos old when they left PA. I think Hugh’s parents came from Scotland. I was told by older family that he was a loyalist, a Mennonite & he also was a Mason. He moved his family to IA in the 1860's. There are many many Livingstons in PA, & NY who are dimly related but I haven't been able to sort them out yet.Clarence’s son Guy Melville Livingston who was born 5 APR 1891 in Lewis, IA was my grandfather.He and his wife Goldie Daniels homesteaded in SD in 1910. I have no solid information on Hugh before 1850. I cannot find birth, marriage records or any newspaper stories about the family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you know of a good Mercer Co, PA genealogist let me know!
