I am looking for anyone who could possibly help me locate my ancestors, "The Greggs". My Great Grandfather, James Edward Gregg was born in Paris, Kentucky on September 2, 1885 but I do not know who his father or mother was. James Edward Gregg registered for the Draft in WW1 in Hill County, Montana. Not much is known about this man except that I recently flew to San Diego, California and obtained a copy of his death certificate which did not include the names of his parents. The County of San Diego buried him after passing away December 26, 1974. He walked out of his family's life sometime in the 1930s and no one heard from him again. On his daughter's deathbed in 1953,James failed to show up and most likely did not know his daughter of 33 years had died. My father located him in San Diego during the late 1960s and took one photo of him while visiting San Diego but never heard from James Gregg again. Once again, James had disappeared. Rumor has it that he was an alcoholic which may explain why he disappeared. Earlier generations claimed that his mother was Native American, possibly from Oklahoma but no one knows for sure. If you look at a photo of James Edward Gregg in my Family Tree, you can definately see Native American traits in his facial features.(high cheek bones. My sisters all have this trait also. I am desperate to locate his birth certificate and or the names of his Mom and Dad. I Have his last known address as Golden West Hotel, 720 4th Avenue, San Diego, California during the early 1970s. His Death Certificate shows his SSN# as 516-42-6826 and he was laid to rest in an unmarked grave at Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego, California. I do believe he spent some time in the military as his WW1 Draft gives a clue of "National Guard Signal" Anyone who can help, has resources, or knows of any information that I am obviously not finding, I would greatly appreciate you and can also offer to pay someone to research and obtain this information. My hopes are that either a distant relative will see this post or someone with excellent research ability and would assist me in trying to locate information on him and his family. Please help? My name is Jacoby, telephone is 406-465-5667, and my email is glendalecrazy@aol.com.
