A historical and genealogical society has finally been formed in this area. The name of the society is "McCroskey Regional Historical & Genealogical Society" and will encompass Benewah County, with an emphasis on W Benewah County (Plummer, Tensed, DeSmet) as well as northern Latah County (Potlatch) and NE Whitman County, Washington (Tekoa, Farmington, Oakesdale). Membership is open to everyone. Meetings will be held monthly at the Tensed-DeSmet Community Library in Tensed, Idaho. Planned activities include a "Family History Fair" Saturday, November 13, 2004. The society will also play a supporting role in the 50 Year Celebration of McCroskey State Park August 7, 2005 and the Smithsonian Institute's traveling "Barn Again" exhibit to be hosted at Tensed for 5 weeks commencing on November 12, 2005.
