I am looking for the family of a Charles W. DAVIS, who I believe was born in Monongalia Co. in 1811. He moved to Tyler county, probably before 1830 and was married there to a woman named Cassandra. I have not been able to find him before the 1840 census (where he was living in Tyler County). In the 1850 census his family is enumerated between a Rebecca DAVIS and soon after a Robert DAVIS. I do not know if these are relatives. He had a number of children including Clarissa (b. 1832), Delilah (b. 1834), Robert (b. 1836), Nancy (b. 1838), Susan (b. 1840), Joseph (b. 1842), Melissa (b. 1844), and Willaim (b. 1846). Charles fought with the Limestone Hill Company during the Civil War and is last listed in the 1880 as 71 years old. By this time he was alone. Any information will help. Thank you very much.
