Hi! I am new to this board. I am researching my husband's family and his grandfather, William Slater lived in Elm Creek, NE at the time of his death in 1950. We were told he was a veterinarian in the area, but we are not sure. Can anyone shed some light on this?
His first wife was Carrie (Stage) Slater, who died in 1918. He remarried at some point to a Mary Ellen ?, they show up in the 1930 census. At the time she had her daughter and granddaughter living with them.
To our knowledge, William and Carrie are buried in the Columbus Cemetery in Kearney, someone did send us a photo several years back of Carrie's gravestone, but there appears to be nothing for William.
