James Lee (b 1808, d 26 Dec 1857) married Sarah A Brawner (b 2 May 1816) on 16 Mar 1836 in Pr Wllm Co, VA.

James appears to have been the son of David Lee from NJ. He also appears to have had a brother Thomas b 1805.

Sarah A Brawner was the daughter of Henry Brawner and Elizabeth Anness. There were 10 children born to this marriage. Sarah was the eldest. Henry Brawner was a son of John Cornish Brawner from Durham Parish, Charles Co MD. It is believed that Henry's younger sister Verlinda/Malinda MAY have married Thomas Lee.

In the 1850 census of Prince William County, James Lee's family appears in household 623, enumerated on 27 September 1850 (p. 137A-B).

James Lee (42) is a farmer and illiterate.
Sarah A. Lee (34) also is unable to read and write.
Sarah E. Lee (11),
Emaline Lee (8, in school),
William H. Lee (6), and
Gracy Lee (3).

Also in the household is Julia Green (16, Black).

William H. served in Co. B. 49th VA Inf CSA.

Next door to Sarah and James, live Thomas Anness (35, illiterate) and his family: Mary P. Anness (25, illiterate), Cornelia Anness (2), and Richard H. Anness (4/12). All of these people are listed as born in Virginia.

James died of a fever in 1857.

The 1860 census of Prince William County lists Sarah A. Lee (45) b. 1815 as head of the household. James had died in 1857.

ii. GEORGE B. LEE1, b. 18 December 1850, Virginia?.
