I am looking for any help in finding relatives on my father's side of the my family.
On my father's side of the family, my great-grandfather was Richard O'Shea - born in Ireland (according to the info on his death certificate) in 1837. His father is listed as Walter O'Shea,of Ireland, and his mother is listed as Eileen Savage, also of Ireland.
I know from doing research in Ireland, the Savage name - while originally from France (de Savage) and then, as part of the Norman's reward for fighting against the Scot's, they were given lands in both Scotland and later Ireland, they predominantly settled in County Down (in Northern Ireland), though there was a group that settled in County Kilkenny.
"Walter" and Richard are not common Irish names (more likely of English influence/ancestry). I also understand that a group of O'Shea's also settled in County Kilkenny. I can only surmise that my family came from County Kilkenny.
Any help that can be given will be greatly appreciated.
