I am looking for anyone who might be connected to the McDonell (McDonald) Grant families of Lancaster, Glengarry, Ontario.

My great great grandfather was:
Angus McDonell born about 1833 believed born in Glengarry area.
1st wife Mary S. Pickering
Born 13 Jun 1833 in Bedford, York, England
Died 17 Sep 1859 Blenheim, Kent Co., Ontario, Canada

Angus and Mary had the following children
1. John A. McDonell born 10 Oct 1855 Blenheim, Kent Co., Ontario, Canada
Died 19 Apr 1922 Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan
2. Albert E. McDonell (Albertus Joseph McDonell) (my great grandfather) I have lots of information on him)
Born 03 Apr 1857 Blenheim, Kent Co., Ontario, Canada
Died 16 Jan 1938 Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan
3. Alexander R. McDonell
Born 10 Jun 1859 Blenheim, Kent Co., Ontario, Canada
Died 1934 Lancaster area buried St Margaret’s Cemetery, Lancaster Twp.

After Mary died in Sep 1859 Angus took the 3 children from Blenheim and went to Lancaster to his McDonell family.
Angus had the 3 boys baptised, I am sure at the urging of his Catholic McDonell family at
St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Chatham, Kent Co, Ontario, Canada
Infant Alexander was baptised there 3 Nov 1859 with Augustin McDonell and Isabella McDonell as sponsors
Albert and John A. were baptised same church 12 June 1860
Sponsor for John were Angus McDonell and Isabelle McDonell
Sponsors for Albert were Douglas White and Flora McDonell

In the 1871 census for Charlottenburg Alexander was living with
Donald Grant age 69 Church of Scotland
Jessie Grant age 45 Church of Scotland
Bella Grand age 54 Church of Scotland
(Alexander McDonald age 14) Catholic
Are these Grants relatives of Alexander?
I believe Alexander should be McDonell

In the 1881 census for Lancaster Alexander was living with
Roderick McDonald age 62 farmer Catholic
Isabella McDonald age 56 Catholic
Mrs. John McDonald age 86 Catholic
(Alexander McDonald) age 20 farmer Catholic
Are these McDonald’s really McDonell’s and are they related to Alexander?

In the 1871 census for Charlottenburg (page 53) John was living with the McArthur family. I only have the page he appears on and shown above him is Margaret McArthur age 14 Church of Scotland There parents must be McArthur too.

I believe the McDonell and McDonald name is interchangeable
