Am interested in the village of Greenfield in Hamilton parish. James Crighton and Elizabeth Kerr went there from Port Glasgow sometime 1779-1784 and stayed. He was a carpenter. I have tried to find some history of Greenfield to see why he might have moved. There was a mine, but was there one then? Does anyone know of a history of Greenfield I could read? Where might people who died here be buried?
Their son Robert married Rosina Trotter from Cardross, Dunbarton 1803 -I wonder how they met, too? Robert was a grocer in Port Glasgow in later life (and married 3 times altogether).
