I have traced my ancestors back to Robert Coleman who arrived to Virginia in 1637 and married Elizabeth Grizzell from Rappahannock in 1655. From my investigation, I believe Robert Coleman was born in 1619 in Braxton, Mango, Essex, England. Although the story is difficult to follow, I believe his father was John Coleman born 1590 - 1600, son of Sir James Coleman and Mary Spencer married in 1589 in Suffolkshire, England. Sir James' father was Edward Coleman born in 1544 in Great Braxted, Essex, England, but that is where my research hits a dead end. Does anyone have more information about any of these people?
