Stuck on my first try in England ... Gloucestershire

Classification: Query
My 2nd great grand father came to the Americas in the mid 1870's ... So says a few of the census reports. Either 1875 or 1876 ... Again so says the census. Also, my copy of his death cert says he came from Gloucester, England. I have no proof of birth, immigration or other family members either in the USA or England.
Also his grave is unmarked in Rosebank Cemetery, Mulberry, Crawford County, Kansas. He was 71 in 1931 according to his death certificate.
I have copies of his residency, marriage, death certificate, 3 known children of 5 births.
Please help me to figure out his past. What measures do I use to see his passenger list, immigration papers, or any record of family? I'm puzzled and hit a wall with this one. I don't have enough knowledge of immigration records on where to dig .... Please help...
