My son, Michael Finley Broyer, is, I was told, related to the Daniel Boone scout John Finley...not sure how exactly, but my father in law, Harold Finley Broyer told me that there was a connection. My ex also had the middle name Finley, and I was told it was a family tradition to name the firstborn son's middle name Finley to honor this family line. Father in law died a mere 3 years after we were wed so I did not get any more of the story to piece together once I became interested in tracking the family tree. He did tell me that the Broyers were mainly from Pennsylvania...he called them Pennsylvania 'Dutch' which I now know means deutsch..as in German.
Can anyone verify any of this story? Both my ex and my father in law are deceased so I have no way to verify...He also mentioned a Samuel Finley as a relative...possibly from South Carolina
