Thought I'd pen a quick note to congratulate Eric and others on this Huang board for the interesting and valuable work described herein.
I'm a third generation Canadian whose family has been in Canada for about a hundred years. I recently returned from a visit to China, that included a first time sojourn to my ancestral village located in Kai Ping county, an hour and a half drive from Guangzhou. The purpose of my trip was to celebrate the 20 year sister Cities' Anniversary of Vancouver and Guangzhou.
I've posted a few pix of my visit, along with a short dissertation on my family's history in Canada...it's posted on my office website at
http://e-atelier.com/ea_China.html (follow the links). I hope to hear from other people, especially other Chinese Canadians and their experiences back to their ancestral villages.
Unfortunately, I cannot read Chinese, but if anyone knows of the origins of my ancestral village, and my ancestors, I'd be grateful to learn. I hope to share this information with other relations here and to eventually hook up with the Wong Clan association here in Vancouver.
