Peter McGIVERN (1825-1881) and Margrette LARKIN (1825-1902) emigrated to the States from Creggan Parish, Co. Armagh, Ireland, in 1848 and settled in Marengo, Iowa, IA, in 1868.

Peter and Margrette had the following nine children:

Married: Rose Anne McKEE (1866-1949)

James Joseph McGIVERN/Brother Aloysius (Christian Brother) (1864-1938)

Thomas Patrick McGIVERN (1867-1959)
Married: Mary Ellen FLANAGAN (1869-1955)
