I currently administer six profiles on 23andMe, including my own. I have DNA accounts both on Ancestry & ftDNA for just my own genome but am interested in moving the other five family members over to both platforms.
This appears possible but it incurs limitations both in specificity of results and in availability of services. Paying for new tests outright will incur a greater cost, but it is unclear how much more genetic information is gained that cannot be transferred from 23andMe.
Both grandparents are in their 90's and one of them is very sick. Would it be wise to retest them if permanently losing access to some genetic information is priceless to avoid? Which tests should I get?
Is there a lesser amount that can be paid to transfer genetic profiles and retain all genetic information?
I have tried researching the pros and cons to doing all of this and the information is overwhelming and often contradictory.
Thanks for any guidance you can offer.
