I recevied the marriage license for George W. Pitts and Lucinda Johnston for Jan. 29, 1867 but don't understand it.
it states:
Know all men by these presents, That we George W. Pitts and D.B. Booth are held and firmly bound unto the State of Alabama, in the penal sum of Two Hundred Dollards: for the payment of which, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, and each and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, fimly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals, and dated the 29th day of January A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-Seven.
The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That if they be no lawful cause why George W. Pitts and Lucinda Johnston should not be joined together in holy union of Matrimony, then this Obligation to be void: otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

my question is if george w. pitts married lucinda johnston, then why is, and who is, D. B. Booth and why are they bound to the state of Alabama ??????
i have found the D.B. Booth is Daniel B. Booth and 4 mths after signing this he married the judges dau. Sara Emily Benson b.06/1848 ala.
