I have unearthed some bricks from the foundations of a very old shed. They are stamped E Smithers - Maitland with a diamond shape between the Smithers and Maitland. Could anyone please give me some information as to where and when Smithers was making bricks. I know from Grenville's PO Directory he is listed in 1872 as a brickmaker. I would appreciate any further information.
