Raymond Rosier, 82, World War II veteran

PITTSFIELD -- Raymond W. Rosier, 82, of 176 Columbus Ave. died Tuesday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in Lanesboro on May 17, 1917, son of Julius and Rose Randall Rosier, he attended Berkshire schools and lived in the Berkshires all of his life.
He was a World War II Army veteran and served in Okinawa.
A farmer and laborer, Mr. Rosier had originally worked at the Rinehart Farm in Lanesboro in his early years. He later became a kilnman at the former U.S. Gypsum Plant in Farnams and, most recently, he was employed by Freadman Steel, retiring in 1980.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and putting up his own wood for the season.
He leaves his wife, the former Lena T. Sondrini, whom he married Nov. 29, 1940; four sons, J. John Rosier of Berkshire Village, Michael J. Rosier and David C. Rosier, both of Pittsfield, and James A. Rosier of Dalton; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Sondrini of Jemers, Pa., and Mrs. Dorothy Shandrowski of Stamford, Conn.; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. His son, Raymond W. Rosier Jr., died June 26.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Raymond W. Rosier, 82, died July 13 in Pittsfield. Funeral services will be private Thursday at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel in Lanesboro, officiating. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation, in care of the funeral home.
