The book titled "The History of Boothbay, Southport and Boothbay Harbor, Maine" by Francis Byron Greene has a reference in it stating that the the first recorded Boothbay McFarland (John) had a contemporary, possibly a brother (James). It says they settled in Boothbay for a while and then James went back to Pemaquid where he founded the Bristol family of this name (McFarland).
My McFarland ancestors lived in Bristol Maine from the 1700's to the late 1800's. I would like to connect with anyone having knowledge of McFarland's in Bristol throughout that time period or to this date.
I am the 3X Great Granddaughter of Walter McFarland born. 1821 in Bristol, ME died 22 Sep 1898 in Detroit, Maine.
According to the census' throughout the late 1700's and 1800's several McFarlnd households were in Bristol but Andrew and Robert McFarland raised large families in Bristol and lived there for over 60 years.
