Hello. I've just looked through the archives of this Board to see how many postings were about ancestors in Yorkshire Co., England. I found about 10, and most were messages from over 5-7 years ago. So, I wondered whether anyone wanted to mention their ancestors - as of now.

I have a copy of the "Simon CROSBY of Billerica" book, and I was looking at it this week. I can briefly summarize what it says:

Simon CROSBY arrived in the MA Bay Colony in 1635 and settled in Cambridge, MA. He had his wife, Anne, and an infant son with him. A year or 2 later, his father, Thomas CROSBY, came over and lived with him. Simon died in 1639, and Thomas continued to live with his widowed daughter-in-law in Cambridge. When she remarried and moved to Braintree, MA, he moved to Rowley, MA. Simon and Ann had 3 sons, Thomas, Joseph, and Simon.

Thomas became Rev. Thomas CROSBY and settled in Eastham, MA (Cape Cod). Joseph CROSBY remained in the Braintree, MA, area. Simon CROSBY (son) moved to Billerica, MA, and that is who the 1914 book is written about. All 3 brothers had many descendants.

This extended family came from Holme-on-Spaulding-Moor, Yorkshire, England, and they go back to a John CROSBY in mid-1400's in Yorkshire. I just checked on-line and that is in the southeast corner of the county.

When Thomas (the father) moved to Rowley, his grandson from England came over and lived with him; he was Anthony CROSBY. And, a widow, Mrs. Constance CROSBY, came over with her children and also lived in Rowley. Her husband was Robert CROSBY, a 4th cousin of Simon (of Cambridge). Constance was a sister of Anne, Simon's wife.

In Billerica, MA, I am descended from Simon's son, Joseph CROSBY. I had to do some research a year ago to find out the correct parents of my ancestor, Simeon CROSBY, who married in Cambridge, MA, in 1787. My "educated guess" is that his father was Jessaniah CROSBY, a grandson of Joseph.*

Simeon married Lydia FROST, and they only had one child, John CROSBY, b1797. This family became associated with the large CROSBY Farm in (now) Arlington, MA (formerly West Cambridge, MA), and the large HUTCHINSON Farm up the street in (now) Winchester, MA.

Several researchers have my Simeon CROSBY coming from a CROSBY family in Shrewsbury, MA, and that is not correct.
