Surnames: Frogg, Richardson, Bourland
I have recently purchased the 1801 marriage bond of Robert Richardson and Margaret Frogg.

Here is the text of both the bond itself, and of the permission slip that was signed by William Frogg.

MARRIAGE BOND: WV; Greenbrier Co.; Marriage bond of Robert Richardson & Margaret Frogg; original in possession of the Greenbrier Historical Society
This is 2 small original documents, each less than a half-page in size. The first is a pre-printed marriage bond form on which the date and individual names of groom, his surety, bride, and witness are written in longhand. The signatures of the groom and his security (fellow bondsman who agrees to help pay the quoted fee in case the marriage didn't go through), and the witness are original. The second document is entirely original, and it is a permission slip from William Frogg for his daughter Margaret to marry Robert Richardson. It is written in his handwriting, and signed by him and a witness. This document would have been written at home and turned over to Robert Richardson to take to the courthouse when he applied for the marriage bond itself.

(25 Nov 1801)

The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas there is a marriage shortly to be solemnized between the above bound Rob. Richardson Margaret Frogg of Greenbrier County, if therefor there shall be no lawful cause to obstruck the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force.
