I have spent 3 days of constant work trying to clear up this family. If you have any corrections that can be supported or any advice that would be helpful, I would certainly like to hear from you. This is what I believe about James L. McKee and Jane (Jean) Jennet Tedford (some say Telford). James McKee married 5-06-1782 in Rockbridge, Va.. the daughter of Alexander. Min. John Brown, Pres. on page 414 of Rockbridge mgs. In one of many books loaned to me by my daughter is a book, "Wills and Inventories of Bath County,Va. 1791-1842. It shows McKees and list a few names. I have researched this family for sometime and the only name I recognized was Polly. I also had REV WAR abstracts showing a James McKee with much misinformation. In the will of Jane it lists her children:Hugh; Polly; Isabella; Nancy; Joseph; and James. The first thing I am going to hear from some of you is, " I know there was a John T. This James and Jennet Tedford as far as I can tell were never, never married to another spouse. This particular family shows James as being dead by 1821 and Jane also dead by 1821. If you are looking for Nancy Scott who supposedly married the above James in 1807 I would like to know this; If James and Jane Tedford married in 1782 as the marriage books shows and they both died in 1821 it appears to me that they remained married. I know they could have divorced and if you have a record of a divorce, I would appreciate a copy. I will now go through the record of Nancy Scott.: Nancy Hall, d/o James Hall married John Willson on 4-28-1813. On 12-06-1832 a Nancy Wilson, widow of John Wilson married a John Scott. Now see the next date. Nancy Scott widow of John, married James McKee on 3-26-1807. I can't figure this out and I could use some help. Now for John T. In my Rockbridge mg. book I have a John T. McKee married to a Nancy Hanna(H) on 11-18-1806 who I believe is the brother to Mary Jane who married Andrew Bratton. on 9-03-1829 in Rockbridge. John was not included in the will because he would have been 37 years of age at the time of the will probated 6-1821. Isabella; Nancy; Joseph; & James were infants and their guardian was bonded by William Sitlington etc. Mary Jane Tedford & Andrew Bratton had a son Andrew Sitlington Bratton and I believe that Andrew probably had a middle name of Sitlington. My Rockbridge marriage book also shows a Isabella d/o James, DEC. by her marriage to James Lyle on 4-15-1824. I can find no other information on these other children. The will does state at the end of it after designating what the listed children would get:Remaining balance to be sold and distributed between sons Joseph & James and the remaining 1/3 of property to be equally divided to ALL OTHER sons and daughters, which lead me to believe there were many more and I would assume that John T was of that 1/3 portion. I would appreciate hearing from you as I did have a very difficult time sorting this out and I may have misinterpreted it as I don't think as well as I once did. Sincerely Ann
