I'm trying to find out if anyone has ever heard of a Cherokee Indian woman with the name of Gayfeather? The story in my family is that she was on the Trail of Tears with her family. She made a disturbance and her family was able to get away. Unfortunately she was killed. I don't know how to prove she existed. Also my 4th great grandmother is Mournin Brown. I don't know how to prove she was Cherokee Indian. Her mom was Sarah Reed/Reid. She is supposed to be full blooded Cherokee Indian. Mournin was born 1810 in Buncombe,North Carolina. She died Aug 1875/1876 in Gilmer,Georgia. I have seen her tombstone and it says she's the 1/2 Cherokee Indian wife of Jesse William Burrell Sr(1805-1868) Does anyone know anything about Sarah Reed/Reid? I would be very grateful for any information. Thank you in advance.
