Hello, I am researching the family of James Eliza Jackson. James married Elizabeth Cooper in Floyd County on Aug 7, 1879. The couple appears in the 1880 Floyd County Georgia Census and sometime after that, they moved to Atlanta where they appear in the 1900 through 1920 Fulton Co. Census.
Elizabeth died first on March 19, 1926 and then James followed on Oct 4, 1929. I have obtained copies of both of their death certificates. Both state simply that Burial was in Rome Georgia. Neither mentions a cemetery name.
James Eliza Jackson was a son of Blake Jackson and Bartila Jane Pyle. His siblings all spread out and only one of his siblings appears to have stayed in the Floyd County area, Miles Thomas Jackson who is buried in the Bebo family Cemetery. So I am thinking that since he isn't buried with his brother, and since his wife died first, they might be buried with the Coopers. According to her death certificate, Elizabeth Cooper was the daughter of James Cooper and a Mrs. Green. There are two Floyd County Cemeteries which you can search online... one is Myrtle Hill Cemetery and I can't remember the name of the other. But searched in both of these and they are not in either.
Even though the death certificates say Rome Georgia, I would be surprised if they are actually buried in the city of Rome. In the 1880 Census, the couple are living in North Carolina, Floyd Co. Ga so they are likely buried in that part of the county.
Any help tracking down their burial location would be greatly appreciated.
