I'm looking for information on John H. Lavalley, who lived in Olean in 1880 with his wife Almira and son John W. Lavalley. The family is listed on the census as Laralley instead of Lavalley. John H. is shown with occupation as blacksmith.
I've been told that John H. died in a railroad accident. The accident was probably sometime between 1882 and 1885. Theodore Lavalley, their second child, was born in 1882 in Olean. Almira moved back to Vergennes, VT with the 2 boys and remarried in 1885.
Does anyone have information about a railroad accident in the area around Olean during that time period?
