I am searching for any information concerning the various members of the Provorse family, that lived in Dwight and Lincoln Townships.

John A. Provorse took a homestead in Huron Co. in the 1850's. Between 1870-1880, he and his wife Melinda (McDonald) bought and sold several pieces of property, and also lost at least one to foreclosure.

All but one of The following family members came to Huron County about 1851/52 from Dereham Township, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada, where they were primarily shingle makers. The last child WAS born in Dwight Township

John Allen Provorse, b. abt 1812,
Melinda McDonald Provorse, b. abt 1817

Their children:

Elizabeth (Eliza) Jane Provorse, b. 25 Jun 1838; married Jesse C. Wright 2 Jan 1860 in Port Austin

Jane Provorse, b. abt 1840

John H. Provorse, b. 6 Aug 1843; married 1)Rebecca Lydia Kirkpatrick 20 Oct 1866 in Huron Co, she died 23 Dec 1891 in Port Crescent. John married 2) Sarah Mann on 7 Sep 1892 in Hume Township. They both died in Bay City, Bay Co., Mich.

Peter Provorse, b. 31 May 1845; m. Nancy Huxtable 17 Dec 1869 in San Beach


Clara Amanda Provorse, b. abt 1848/49; married Arthur Peer abt 1869 in Hume Township. She married Charles Morrison about 1876 in Huron Co.;

George Provorse, b. abt 1852

Amelia Provorse, born about 1852/53 in Dwight Township.

ANY information on where these people lived, died, were buried, etc., etc. would be greatly appreciated.
