Seeking information on the Spain family from either Nenagh or Cloughprior, Ireland. My GG Grandfather, Martin Spain, moved to the United States (Concord, New Hampshire) around the year 1850. His parents were Cornelius Spain and Sarah Lean. Anyone with information on the family in general would be appreciated. I have heard that the Spain family was originally from this area and that most of the Spain's are descended from a person named "John" that came from Spain as a result of his ship crashing onto shore at Spanish Point, Ireland, during the year 1588, the Spanish Armada. Having a difficult spanish name he was referred to as "Spain". This was a story that was handed down in the family from generation to generation.
