James R E Davis made a will in 1833 in Marion Co Ala., withnessed by Jeremiah and Benjamin..my grandfather was about 17/18. Also names his father as William, one of the executor along with his brother-in-law a Moore....named his three children Louisiana Davis, William R E Davis and James M Daviss.......Jeremiah my grandfather also named one of his sons, James Monroe Davis , who was my greatGrandfather..

I know that the Foster, Jowell, Carter, Higgs, Edwards and Davis' intermarried into each others families for generations...Moving from VA, NC, TN, ALA, finally to Tx together or later....My grandparents were married in Marion Co Ala 1825 by his uncle Rev Henry Davis who had a son John who was married to Ann...They lived in Monroe Co MS when he sold his part of a business and steamboat the IBERIA in orabout 1836...Later coming to Tx and settling in Rusk Co TX...He fought in the Mexican War and was a CAPt in the Civil War stationed at oyster creek....He died in Sept of 1870 Pls e mail me if you have any info regarding this family or extended family....
