Wanting to find out what happened to the children of William & Ann HODSON [believed to have come to the U.S. abt. 1831]. The family lived in Lake Co. IN [may have also lived in LaPorte Co. IN. for short while]. Parents died Feb. & Mar. of 1845, bur. in Merrillville Cem.. Children:
Betsy (Elizabeth) HODSON; Mary HODSON; John HODSON, b. 1834, PA.; Ann HODSON; William HODSON, b. 1842, IN.; & Phillip HODSON, b. 1844, Lake Co. IN.
George EARL, appointed guardian. 1850 Census found William HODSON (HODSAN), 8 yrs. living with Samuel SIGLER. John HODSON, 16 yrs. & Philip HODSON, 6 yrs. living with George EARL.
I did not find the girls in 1850. 1854 I found a mar. rec. for a Mary HODSON who mar. Arial WHEELER.
1860 Lake Co. Census lists Elizabeth HODSON, b. 1831, on the Atlantic Ocean].
1860, WA. Co. IA. found a William HODSON, living with Js. STRAIN (OR. Twp.). Phillip HODSON mar. Alma Jennie STEHPENS in 1869, WA. Co. IA..
Js. STRAIN wrote a letter for Phillip HODSON'S Civil War Pension Application
