I have purchased the 2014 FTM as a download. I cannot get it to ihnstall on my laptop.
I have plenty of space, all updates installed and no other problems. But I have had to get a new installation number 3 times so far and it is still not installed. And that is another fripe. I BOUGHT this software. Why does the serial number expire? What if I duy a new computer next year? Do I have to purchase the product again? This isn['t right!
Anyhow, I start the install. It asks for the serial number and accepts it (if it hasnt expired, in which case I have had to call for ANOTHER number), the message says the installation will proceed. Then an error message comes up.It says "Error reading from file: C:\PROGRA~3\{3F06E~1\Family Tree Maker-Files\951C9513\8488E27\msvcr100.dll. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."
I have rolled my computer back to a date before I bought this software but that didn't help. I have followed all the steps to remove all traces of instrallation attemps. No luck. I tried the clean installation and now I got a message that somethiong could't be found, Don't remember message.
My last call to Ancestry I was told I needed to call the software technician. That # is 888-722-4431. NO ONE ever picks up after they auto answer telling you to hold for the next... you know the game!
Who do I call.? How do I get this program installed? I know I am not alone from all the messages about this but gee whizz! Come on Ancestry. Admit there is a problem and fix it. PLEASE???
