Velma A. Messick, 88, a native of Wells County, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at Villa North Nursing Home in Toledo, Ohio. She had been in failing health four years. A homemaker, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Bluffton. She was born June 26, 1910 to Charles L. and Ethel Mills Messick. Surviving are a daughter, Patty Messick of Toledo, Ohio; and a sister, Gladys Gehrett of Bluffton. Three brothers, Harley, Earl and Donald Messick, are deceased. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Ingle officiating. Calling hours are today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
