I am trying to track down the descendants of John Morrison Pottinger (b.1823 Lerwick, m.1858 Islington, Janet Mutter) . At least one of his sons has a NZ connection:-

Arthur William Pottinger (b.1866 Islington) married 22 Oct 1888 Fanny Gertrude Morton at Christchurch.

Their daughter

Marjorie [Morrison] Pottinger (b.1890 New Zealand m.1910 Charles Douglas Simmons)

I have also found mention of a Robert J Pottinger who married Mary Gifford Laurenson (born 6 May 1865) at Christchurch, NZ, 6 Jun 1889.
