Does anyone have pictures or related items from Holmes School, located at the intersection of Newberry and Pittsburg Roads southwest of Durand, from the time period 1947-1956, when I attended the school, or prior to 1925 when my Dad, Warren WELCH, attended school here. I'm interested in copies of pictures of the school building, documents, papers, artifacts, pictures of students and teachers (especially group photos), anything.

The Shiawassee County Historical Society has a series of books "Echoes of Yesteryears Shiawassee County SCHOOLS," Holmes School is listed in:

Volume 7, Burns and Vernon Townships.

Burns Township: Barnum School, Chaffee School, Cole School, Green School, Haviland School, Knaggs Bridge School, Union Plains School and Williams School. Vernon Twonship: Baird School, Chalker School, Durand School, Garrison School, Holmes School, Lovejoy School, Mikan School and White School.

These volumes sell for $15.00 each, plus $0.90 Michigan sales tax and $3.00 shipping and handling.

Unfortunately, I only have the one for Owosso Township or I would look up and see what they had on Holmes School for you. Some of the schools have a lot of information and pictures and others only a little.
