I am searching for any information about the Camberos and Fitch families in an around Copala, Rosario, and Panuco in the state of Sinaloa in the latter part of the 1800's to early 1900's. My grandmother was Jovita Victoria Fitch, daughter of Enrique Eduardo (aka Henry Edward) Fitch and Josefa Castro. My grandfather was Alejandro Camberos, son of Miguel Camberos and Guadalupe Galvan. I have much information about the Fitch family, but nothing about the Camberos family. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Also looking for Camberos, among them Juan Bautista Camberos, alias El Tajéhue

I'm also looking for people with the Camberos surname as my grandfather's name was Alexandro Martínez Camberos (1916 - 1999). His mother was Elena Camberos Miranda (1896 - 1982) who married Benito Martínez. Her father was Fortunato Camberos (married Elena Miranda; brother Santiago, sisters Inés, Refugio and Juanita). Their father was Juan Bautista Camberos (born before 1855, I think). His wife's name probably was Refugio, unknown surname. During the Mexican Revolution he was known as El Tajéhue. He was colonel or general but don't know which side he was fighting with. I searched for El Tajéhue in many encyclopedias but none has info about him. I'm sure somewhere is his biography. Maybe you will have more luck.
All this people lived not in Sinaloa but in neighboring Durango and Chihuahua States and my grandfather told me there surely are some relatives in Sinaloa. So probably there is a link and maybe we are relatives. Lets try to find it!
Also I now Camberos has some variants: Cambero, Campero and also english equivalents are Kamper and Kemper.

If you or sombody else has any data from the Camberos and Miranda families I will thank you very much.

Hello, Raul:

I was very happy to find your message. Unfortunately I have not been able to connect our families yet. The only information I have about my great grandfather, Miguel Camberos, is his name. I don't know his parents' names or if there were any brothers or sisters. It is the same for his wife, my g-grandmother. I only know that she was Guadalupe Galvan. (I suspect her name could be Maria Guadalupe Galvan.) Their son, Alejandro Camberos, was born in 1876. I am assuming he was born in Rosario (El Rosario?) in Sinaloa. I believe Alejandro was the youngest of the family and the other 5 were all girls.

The good news is that I went to the Mormon Church website and found this information:

Juan Camberos married Refugio Gusman, 1864, Santa Cruz, Rosales, Chihuahua, Mexico

Could this be the g-g-g-grandfather you mentioned in your listing? The time sounds about right. So does the place. Do you know any names for brothers of your grandfathers? That is were we will probably find our connection. When I searched the Mormon website further, I could not find any listings for my grandparents names. Perhaps they have not microfilmed the church records from El Rosario yet. I hope they do so soon.

I am sorry that I do not write to you in Spanish, too. I grew up in California and did not learn to speak or write Spanish very well. If I made an attempt, you would be rolling on the floor laughing and wondering what in the world I was trying to say! Please e-mail me...momndadn@home.com.

Tonia

Thanks a lot!

Hi! Thanks a lot for the info you found. It's great! This surely will help a lot linking our families.
Next Sunday December 19th, 1999, all the descendants of Elena Camberos Miranda and Benito Martínez Dorador are going to have our annual family reunion in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. So I'm going to tell all of them what you found. Probably some of the older members could give me more info about our Camberos ancestors. I'll tell you in few days about that and send some pictures.

Raul
PS. English is OK

Raul:

Did you ever find out any information on the Camberos Family at your family reunion in December? I have a new twist for you...my daughter just started working with a young woman whose mother is descended from Juan B. Camberos and Refugio (Cuca) Guzman. Do these names mean anything to your family: Margarita Camberos (adopted) and Rodolfo Camberos born 12/4/1908, Godparents were Federico Fitch (my grandmother's brother) and Juana C. de Puente?

I am a member of the Camberos Families too. My Grandfather was Augustin Camberos. He was from Zacoalco De Torress. Jalisco Mexico. His parents were Jaun Camberos and Tomasa Torres. Any help would be greatly Appreciated. I have been searching for a year and can't find any thing. My Father was Sabino Camberos born in 1905. He came to the United States sometime in the early 1920's

No sé si somos de la misma familia. He estado buscando a mis antepasados durante muchos años.
